Shropshire Safeguarding Community Partnership hosted a series of Spotlights sessions which were on key themes from learning in venues across Shropshire in Spring 2025 for professionals, managers and stakeholders from partnerships, services and settings across the county.

This Spotlight session provided information about childhood neglect and Shropshire's evidence base. Information was gathered from attendees about what they thought was working well, what could be done better and to map interventions and services available to tackle the issues which arose. It was agreed what needs to happen next to improve leadership and practice in tackling neglect and inform revisions to the Neglect Strategy.

This Spotlight session provided information about extra-familial risks and harm and Shropshire's evidence base. Information was gathered from attendees about what they thought was working well, what could be done better and to map interventions and services available to tackle the issues which arose. It was also discussed what needs to happen next to improve leadership and practice in tackling extra-familial harm and risks and also how to inform strategy and approach in Shropshire.

This Spotlight focused on learning and content from the other three Spotlights and the importance of a system wide approach to prevention and early intervention as well as a focus on working as a system and in partnership. There was a discussion around Working Together 2023 requirements to include the changes to Families First.
